Many different infections occur in water wells. Iron bacteria causes water to have a red slime effect and leaves stains on baths and basins. Iron bacteria can be successfully treated and so can most other forms of bacteria.

Brownish-black water > Dissolved Manganese
Red water > Iron bacteria and dissolved iron
Stinking water > High sulphate content
Bad tasting water > Dissolved Hydrogen Sulphide Gas
